Meet the Team

The firm was set up by Sean Ormonde son of prominent Waterford man Dr. Donie Ormonde.  Sean is a qualified solicitor and has a Bachelor of Business and Legal Studies Degree from UCD and a Diploma in Employment Law from the Law Society of Ireland.  Lisa O’Neill is a graduate of WIT and has a BBS honours degree in Human Resources.

Seán is the principal of Employment Matters an employment advice and mediation business based both in Dublin and Waterford City.

Employment Matters is an employment consultancy which aims to help both employers and individual employees resolve employment issues where conflict has arisen or where there has been a breakdown in the employment relationship.

Employment Matters also provides individual employees as well as employers with expertise and advice in relation to employment issues such as unfair dismissal, equality, redundancy, terms of employment, bullying and harassment as well as many other aspects of the employment relationship.

Seán is a 35-year-old qualified solicitor with a Masters Degree in Marketing from the UCD graduate school. He is currently a Director and shareholder of énergie Fitness Clubs (Ireland) Ltd. the owner of the master franchise for Ireland for the énergie fitness club brand and operation in Ireland.

Seán also holds a Diploma in Commercial Law from the Law Society and a Diploma in the Law of eCommerce.

As a master franchisor Seán has been involved in negotiating many franchise agreements as well as the negotiations of two master franchise agreements.

Having grown a number of commercial brands within Ireland, Seán has been tasked with many commercial and legal negotiations and in particular has significant expertise in employment law and resolving employment disputes.

Seán also has significant experience in advising businesses throughout Ireland in relation to their employment obligations. Having completed the Law Society Diploma in Employment Law in 2009, Seán has developed his expertise in the employment area.

Employment Law

Sean is a qualified solicitor and employment law expert. In the past number of years he has been involved with the resolution of numerous employment disputes including redundancy matters, issues relating to Unfair Dismissal, Bullying issues as well as negotiating agreements with large groups of employees and Unions.

Sean has appeared on behalf of Clients in all forums of the Employment Law spectrum including the Rights Commissioner service, the Employment Appeals Tribunal, the Labour Court, the Equality Tribunal and the Circuit Court.

Commercial Law

Seán has been involved in the successful resolution of a number of significant disputes and has worked on behalf of small businesses, SMEs and large corporate clients.

Given his experience of franchising and commercial law, Seán has a unique ability to act in franchise disputes however he also has a significant capability in contractual and commercial matters having acted on both sides of the fence both as a solicitor and client in negotiating and enforcing commercial agreements.

Sean completed a Higher Diploma in Marketing Practice and holds a Diploma in Commercial Law and a Diploma in the law of eCommerce both from the Law Society of Ireland.

Personal Injury

While acting as a solicitor Sean has worked for Nolan Farrell & Goff, Waterford’s top legal defence practice where he worked in the Litigation Department under Gerard O’Herlihy and acted for some of the country’s leading insurance companies and public bodies.


Seán also worked with Emmet Halley of Halley & Son, Solicitors in Waterford on plaintiff work and therefore has extensive experience in both camps.


Commercial Conveyancing and Landlord & Tenant

Through his experience with energie Fitness Clubs as well as his time as a solicitor, Seán has developed an extensive understanding of the legal and commercial matters relating to commercial conveyancing and landlord & Tenant law.
